Welcome

warmly,on the pages dedicated the one's
I love,my hovawarts.

True beauty of hovawart is hidden inside it's head. It's outside appearance is nothing compared to friendship it grants us. Thanks to hovawarts that live with me I've improved myself and met a lot of wonderful people. Hovawart is definitely not a dog for beginners- it's faithful friend which demands wise and sincere friendship from it's owner.

Hovawart is rather a young, german race of dogs talented in multiple things. The name of hovawart probably comes from conglomerate of words in Mittelhochdeutsch dialect „hova”(der hof)- yard and „wart”(Der Wächter) which means guardian, keeper. Simply put it's yard guardian. The ancestor of hovawart was definitely like that, defensive dog, but today hovawart have nothing in common with that portrait. Nowadays it's a dog specialised in many branches. Hovawart is a race artifically re-created and in this creation major involvement had german shepherd dog, newfoundland, bernan shepherd dog. Becouse of those reasons today's outcome (mostly in Poland, but not only) is not specifically equal. We can see species with monstrous body structure, wool bristle, but also much smaller with far poverish gamma/ variety of colour( which succeeds in less problematic care). White marks that occur sometimes are most likely to be inheritance of bernan shepherd dog. Unfortunately this diversity didn't avoid hovawart's mind. Not so long ago great amount of breeders were displaying massive pulp to be the perfect guardian. Dog of this type certainly couldn't fulfil mulitple role.Once the west borders opened the situation have gotten better. On psychical test you can see species more brisk and willing to work with you. These days unboldly, but more frequently sport competitions with the representatives of this bright and astonishingly marvellous race take places. Since 2004, in my life hovawarts are present(for good). They're my faithful companions of daily routine, partners in sport activities, delight achievements on dog shows. Before hovawarts I had many dogs. Being educated forester(and working in proffesion for 10 years) I had terriers, foxhounds, bassets, spaniels. I had sheepdogs of every kind and type ( including Polish lowlanders and German) but none of my previous dogs were so devoted to me like my hovs. If I regret anything about them it's that I've met them way too late...in the second half of my life.
